The Rivian electric vehicle plant near Social Circle, Georgia is one of the largest construction projects in the Southeast. With the $5 billion facility ramping up construction in 2026 and thousands of workers converging on the Stanton Springs area, finding quality housing has become a top priority for contractors, tradespeople, and project managers. If you’re looking for something better than a cramped hotel room, Bear Creek Marina & Campground on Jackson Lake should be at the top of your list.
A Lakeside Home Away from Home
After a 10- or 12-hour shift pouring concrete, pulling wire, or operating heavy equipment, the last thing you want is to go back to a noisy hotel on the highway. At Bear Creek, you come home to Jackson Lake — one of Georgia’s most beautiful reservoirs. Picture this: you pull into your full-hookup RV site, crack open a cold one, and watch the sunset over the water. That’s the Bear Creek difference.
Our campground sits on the shores of Jackson Lake in Mansfield, Georgia, about 35 minutes from the Rivian construction site. It is an easy commute on mostly rural highway, and you never touch Atlanta traffic.
What Makes Bear Creek Stand Out
Full-Hookup RV Sites
Every RV site at Bear Creek comes with water, electric (30/50 amp), and sewer hookups. You’re not roughing it here — you’ve got all the comforts of home. We accommodate everything from travel trailers to Class A motorhomes.
Affordable Monthly Rates
Extended-stay hotels and short-term apartments in the area typically cost well more than a monthly campground lot. Bear Creek’s monthly lot rentals run $650 to $750 depending on amperage, and you get far more space and amenities.
On-Site Restaurant & Bar
Bear Creek Restaurant is a lakeside bar and grill right on the property. The restaurant is currently temporarily closed — when open, you can walk over for a hot meal and cold drink without having to drive anywhere. Hours are seasonal, so call (770) 787-9621 to confirm before planning a meal. (The campground, boat launch, boat storage, and kayak & canoe rentals remain open.)
Recreation at Your Doorstep
Weekends at Bear Creek aren’t about staring at hotel walls. Our residents enjoy:
- Fishing — Jackson Lake is stocked with largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and more
- Kayaking & boating — we have a boat launch and kayak rentals on site
- Live music — live entertainment at the restaurant when it is open (currently temporarily closed)
- Relaxing by the water: enjoy the lake views and Georgia sunshine right at your site
The Rivian Opportunity
Rivian’s Stanton Springs North facility is a game-changer for the region. The project is backed by a $4.5 billion Department of Energy loan, renegotiated in April 2026 so Rivian can draw funds sooner and build the plant as one larger phase producing up to 300,000 electric vehicles a year. During construction, approximately 2,000 workers will be needed on site. After production begins in late 2028, the plant is expected to employ 7,500 people by 2030, plus thousands of indirect jobs throughout the region.
For construction workers coming from out of town — whether you’re from elsewhere in Georgia, neighboring states, or across the country — Bear Creek Marina provides a stable, comfortable base of operations for the duration of your contract.
Getting Here Is Easy
Bear Creek Marina is located at 60 Bear Creek Marina Road, Mansfield, GA 30055. From the Rivian plant site near Social Circle:
- Take US-278 or I-20 west to Social Circle, then GA-11 south through Mansfield
- About 35 minutes door to door, roughly 20 miles
- Easy access from Covington, Monroe, Madison, and Conyers as well
What a Work Week Looks Like from Bear Creek
Most Rivian-site commuters settle into a simple rhythm. In the morning you head up GA-11 through Mansfield toward Social Circle, about 35 minutes of two-lane highway with almost no congestion, most of it through quiet farmland and pines. If your crew stages from the Covington side, I-20 is an easy alternate. Covington is the biggest nearby hub for groceries, pharmacies, big-box stores, and medical care at Piedmont Newton Hospital, and Monticello covers fuel and groceries to the southeast. Plan fuel stops in town, since the marina itself does not sell fuel.
Evenings are the payoff. Instead of a hotel parking lot, you come home to the lake with a sunset out your door. The coin laundry on site keeps work clothes turned around without a trip into town, and the sewer hookup at every site means you never spend a Saturday morning waiting at a dump station.
What Our RV Sites Include (and What They Do Not)
Every one of our 20 lots is a full-hookup site with water, sewer, and your choice of 30-amp or 50-amp electric service. The campground is lakefront, family-friendly, and quiet, with monthly lot rentals from $650 to $750 depending on amperage. Coin laundry is available on site, and the boat launch is steps away if you bring a boat for your days off.
Two things to know before you commit. First, there is no bathhouse and there are no public restrooms or showers, so you need a self-contained rig. Second, there is no tent camping. The campground is built for travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes with hookups. If your rig fits that description, you will be comfortable here for a month or for the whole project.
How to Line Up a Monthly Site
Monthly lots are the heart of the campground, and they are limited, so the process is simple but first come, first served. Fill out the Campground Interest Form on our campground and RV hookups page or call (770) 787-9621 with your rig size, amperage, and dates. We will follow up to confirm what is open for your dates, and the form keeps your request in line as lots turn over. If your whole crew needs spots, mention that too. It helps to plan arrivals together.
